WHY HORSES?


Fundamentally, we teach a different way of thinking about the nature of the horse/human relationship, and we believe that the principles of how we engage with our horses should be the same as with humans and the rest of the world of which we are a part. When beliefs and underlying principles change, behaviors and techniques are organically transformed.

The principles of equine-assisted therapy, which focus on the health of the relationship first and foremost, are not only about horses, and not only about humans – they are guides to relating to the world, and our lives, at large.

Each horse is an individual. If we truly want to have healthy, connected relationships with our horses we must shift our focus from what is good for the horse to what is good for this horse.  Attunement is key, and at the core of the therapeutic work done in equine-assisted therapy.

Equine-assisted therapy partners with horses because of the reciprocal relationship that is possible. Horses are capable of engaging in healthy, genuine connection, relationship and partnership. This relationship can be profoundly deeper than words.

Within this relationship, the client and horse are responding to each other, which requires full body and brain activation and offers, when done consciously, a complete bottom-up brain experience. Horses do, indeed, invite us to clearly communicate beyond words with our entire being. They are beautifully sensitive to our internal states and energy.

The riding work can also be especially healing – when done systematically there is proprioceptive and vestibular engagement, as well as the use of the other five senses, plus relational connection and thinking. This is how we heal and build new neural pathways.

Often in trauma, particularly developmental trauma, we must go back to repair and rebuild parts of neural pathways that were missed the first time around (in fetal development, infancy and early childhood), or damaged due to trauma later in life.  From a developmental perspective, the amount of brain activation and development that is occurring when a mother or caregiver holds an infant is critical to laying the foundation of future neural networks. We can mimic this with riding work – we can connect with the one who carries us. In the womb, and later when a caregiver holds an infant, the two are responding to each other in movement, verbal and non-verbal communication, touch, emotion – it can be a full brain and body experience.

What contributes to well-being in any horse-human dyad is dynamic and dependent on what each party needs and experiences moment to moment. Well-being in relationships requires a dance of attunement. This heuristic applies equally to horse-human relationships and relationships between humans and any species, for that matter.

The phenomena of an individual’s subjective experience of intra- and interpersonal relationships has historically been viewed as a psychological matter and studied within the field of psychology. However, increasingly, the biological sciences have contributed to our understanding that this phenomenon is inextricably linked to our bodies. Our experience of relationships is not strictly psychological; it doesn’t exist solely in our minds. It occupies our brains and nervous systems – and encompasses that which occurs biologically within us and between us.

The biological sciences underscore the influence that individual bodies and their behaviors (both explicit and tacit) have on the bodies and thus the felt experiences of each other. This interpersonal influence makes relationship more than a context or a field in which two individuals co-exist and have discrete psychological experiences; it is more like a shared body, where a third being (the relationship itself) emerges and loops back to each partner, affecting each in potentially healing or damaging ways. There is me, there is you, and there is us. We seek to understand and be responsive to all three.

Thermography is simply a photograph taken with an infrared camera. This unique, non-invasive image shows the thermal pattern of the object being imaged. Just like contractors use thermal images to detect problems in homes, both suspected and unknown, thermography technicians can image the human body to find inflammation. Steps can then be taken to resolve the issues that have been detected. Sometimes the problem is more advanced but sometimes the problem is small, and steps can be taken to ensure further damage is not done. Imaging can also be done in conjunction with the treatment giving a visual image of the progress being made in the healing. Thermography can be done on any part of the body not covered in hair but is most commonly used for breast imaging.

We image you from head to toe! This imaging captures everything that is included in the Women’s/Men’s Health With Abdomen option, plus adds the arms, hands, legs and feet. A full body scan is very important because of the potential to see so much in the arms and legs. In addition, the interpreting physician will evaluate thermal indications of possible blood sugar challenges (sometimes seen in the hands) and can monitor varicosities in the legs. The feet are important to image as we see thermal indications of heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, weight transfer problems and more. It’s a complete scan that is kept on file for 7 years for comparison and indicates places in the body that you and your health care provider need to keep an eye on and further evaluate.

Dr. Jerod holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Speed, Quickness and Agility Trainer, Nutrition Response Testing Practitioner and is trained in Nutrition Counseling. The human body is an intricately designed organism — body, soul, and spirit — that needs to be synergistically maintained. Many people are unfamiliar with the fact that toxic emotions, harmful neurotransmitter chemicals, and stress can efficiently “cut the circuit breaker” of communication between the brain and all other areas of the body. More alarmingly, this can have a permanent effect on health!

People are amazed to see how easily these chemical-altering energies can be found and removed through a simple process of muscle testing. The practitioner can identify the offending emotion and release it via a non-invasive photon and/or magnetic therapy, which often results in the sudden disappearance of physical problems, self-sabotage, and recurring relationship difficulties. At ORGANIQUE we offer cold laser (visible red light) and near-infrared laser therapy, which uses low-level photonic energy to target scarred, injured, inflamed, infected, toxic, or otherwise impaired tissues. Injured cells, in particular, readily take on the photons of light, which promotes healing and cellular regeneration. Cold laser brings red blood cells to the affected tissues, increasing oxygenation, and encourages the mitochondria to output more enzymes and ATP. Laser treatments restore balanced cellular biology, reduce pain and inflammation, and hasten the healing in muscles, ligaments, and bones.

We use laser therapy, primarily, to reverse the problems that dermal scars inflict on the autonomic nervous system, a condition which can be highly detrimental to the functioning of organs. It is also an excellent way to address:

• injuries that result from repetitive moves (carpal tunnel syndrome)

Laser therapy is sometimes a viable option instead of surgical procedures, and it is available at a fraction of the cost. There are times when surgery is the sensible route, but the laser alternative should not be overlooked. Cold laser therapy is safe, noninvasive, nontoxic, pain-free, and has no side effects.

WHAT IS IT?
We begin with something familiar. For an electrocardiogram, medical personnel use an electrocardiograph machine to look for problems with the electrical activity of the heart. Electrodes that contact the body allow for the electrical energy from the heart to run over wires. The results appear as line tracings on paper, which the medical doctor is able to interpret.

Similar to what an electrocardiogram tells about the heart, muscle testing tells about the entire system of organs, glands, and tissues. The practitioner manually contacts the various body reflex (electromagnetic) points. If there is dysfunction in the network, the brain trips the neurological reflex, reducing the amount of blood flow and electromagnetic energy to the voluntary muscle that the practitioner is contacting (typically the deltoid of the arm). An active reflex indicates a complication.

An example of a reflex response is the pupil of the eye reacting to light’s electromagnetic energy. The knee is another example, the one commonly used by medical doctors. The body has many reflex points, each one corresponding to an organ, gland, tissue, or bodily function. They can be used to gather critical information about the body’s bio-energetic condition at the cellular level. Muscle testing pinpoints stressors on the system — immune challenges, dermatome scars, heavy metal and chemical toxicities, skeletal interferences, environmental stress, dental issues, food sensitivities, and allergens — all causes of illnesses. God gave us, in the very design of the human body, the ability to accurately, and by a noninvasive means, analyze the complex anatomical system.

In traditional medicine, the doctor uses test results to determine what drugs or surgeries might treat, alleviate, or remove symptoms. Our practitioner does not focus on symptoms but rather develops an individualized program to address the root cause(s) of the symptoms. It may consist of whole-food supplements, environmental testing, cold laser, dietary coaching and other recommended therapies. 

Just as our food supply has been denigrated through pesticides, genetically modified seeds, and chemical processing, many vitamin and mineral supplements are synthetically fabricated in pharmaceutical labs and come to us in isolated forms, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Magnesium, etc. All lack the cofactors and synergistic elements of live foods that are necessary for health. Along with adulterated foods, synthetic vitamins can actually contribute to imbalances and nutritional deficiencies, which can ultimately result in disease.

Proper supplementation utilizes powerful, concentrated whole-food supplements in which enzymes, nutrients, and micronutrients are extracted under strict regulation to keep them intact. The practitioner uses a muscle testing technique to determine the precise nutrients that are lacking. The nutritional program also includes customized dietary guidelines.
